Author: Kathleen Gregoire

The author, Kathleen Eva Gregoire, is the oldest child of Eva B. Duplantis and Oville A. Gregoire. Born on September 28, 1956, she is the oldest of eight children. Ms. Gregoire was raised in a community called Bayou DuLarge.

A Houmas Native American, Ms. Gregoire became a member of Alcoholics Anonymous on September 15, 1993. She earned her General Equivalence Diploma in 1994 and began college that same year. Kat, or "Nanny Kat" as she is known more notably by her many godchildren, nieces, and nephews, graduated from Nicholls State University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Studies. She obtained her certification for substance abuse counseling in the state of Louisiana in 2002. Currently, she is taking online courses for her Masters Degree in Human Services and is employed as the primary drug court counselor in Houma, Louisiana since 2001.

Ms. Gregoires' hobbies include reading, writing poetry, and collecting angels. She likes the outdoors, particularly the beach and woods. She is a member of Beta Sigma Phi (Zeta XI chapter), Natural Resource Conservation Service, Louisiana Association of Drug Court Professionals and Alcoholics Anonymous. Ms. Gregoire has traveled to many states and abroad, and enjoys adding these travels into her journals. Ms. Gregoire speaks Cajun French and loves boiled seafood, especially crabs. She is extremely close to her family and tries to have a spiritual contact with her Higher Power, God, on a daily basis.

Ms. Gregoire would like to retire one day with a cabin in the mountains where she will be able to write more and meditate in serene surroundings.
